Liberal Democrats are demanding action on Dixon's Hill Road in Welham Green.
Figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats show the road has been the scene of over 30% of all personal injury accidents in the ward over the last three years, a total of 24 crashes, including the only fatal accident in the ward.
Local residents have told us that this is just the tip of the iceberg, with bumps and bangs occurring almost daily on the road.
The Liberal Democrats have organised a petition to the local councils demanding action. Over 150 signatures have been received, and the petition will be presented to the Joint Members Panel, the body where roads issues are discussed between the County and Borough Councils, on the 16th April.
Liberal Democrat campaigner Simon Archer commented 'The residents of Welham Green are deeply concerned about road safety on Dixon's Hill Road. Parents are scared for their children's safety, and elderly residents are too frightened to walk or drive because they see accidents day-in and day-out along the road. Something needs to be done, and we will demand the councils get their heads together to come up with a workable solution to the problems.'
Simon added 'We'd like to publicly thank all the residents who responded, and ensure them all that we will continue to work hard on their behalf. A number of residents have written to us with their suggestions for cheap and easily implemented solutions that could be put in place, and we would like to assure all those who wrote that we will respond personally, and that all your excellent suggestions will be passed on to the councils.'
