Christopher Townsend, Dacorum Borough Councillor for Tring West & Rural was been chosen to stand as the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate in November 2009.
Christopher, who moved to Tring from London in 2003, lives in Aylesbury Road with his wife Beth and their two children, Hannah (one) and Nathan (three). He has a PhD from Imperial College, London and works in the City of London as a Senior Risk Manager. Christopher enjoys playing classical piano music.
He has been involved in politics for over 15 years, having been an active campaigner in London before his move to Tring.
Christopher's main political inspiration derives from voluntary social work he was involved in during a time in Birmingham.
He was elected to Dacorum Borough Council to represent Tring West & Rural and also to Tring Town Council for Miswell Ward, both in 2007. He is currently vice-chair of the Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee at Dacorum Borough Council.
